GI-ESCR brings gender perspective to forum on Renewable energy
Join 21 April | GI-ESCR brings gender perspective to forum on Renewable energy and energy justice in Latin America
Next Wednesday 21st April, 6 organisations who are also close partners of GI-ESCR are organising a virtual forum convening activists from several countries in Latin America to reflect on energy justice and its different dimensions along the entire value chain, from lithium extraction to energy generation and distribution. Our Programme Officer on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality, Alejandra Lozano will participate to share perspectives on how a just energy transition would would look like for women.
Addressing the global transformation of renewable energy with a gender perspective is critical to harness the opportunity to transform our energy models and ensure that they protect the environment, respect human rights and advance substantive gender equality.
The Forum is convened by six organizations working in the region to advocate for a just transition to green energy: Business and Human Rights Resource Centre, ProDESC, CEMDA, INDEPAZ, Observatorio Ciudadano, and Red de Abogadas Defensoras de Derechos Humanos.
It will provide a space for activists and experts to raise awareness and create momentum in the Latin American region for the creation of a cross-sectoral movement advocating for a just transition to a low carbon world.
