Joining Forces with the International Gender Champions: Advancing Gender Equality Through Action
Our Executive Director, Magdalena Sepúlveda Carmona, has joined the International Gender Champions (IGC) network. The IGC is a leadership network that brings together decision-makers determined to break down gender barriers and make gender equality a working reality in their spheres of influence.
As part of this network, we are committed to upholding two general commitments: the Panel Parity Pledge and a Gender-Based Violence pledge. Additionally, we have made two institutional S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) commitments:
-
Over the next year, we will fully sponsor at least four women representatives from organisations in African and Latin American countries to participate in major global events. These include the Summit of the Future, the Financing for Development Conference, the Commission on the Status of Women, COP, and the ESCR-NET global strategy meeting. This initiative aims to enhance diversity and foster inclusion. We will also monitor participation in all our events, both internal and external, to ensure balanced representation and address micro-inequalities.
-
In 2024, we will draft a new policy focused on advancing the rights of women and girls in the transition to renewable energy. We will review legislation in at least four Latin American countries to assess whether current frameworks for a just transition address gender gaps. Where they do not, we will advocate for necessary improvements.
