Regional Consultations on the Principles and Guidelines of Human Rights in Fiscal Policies

GI-ESCR’s Executive Director, Magdalena Sepúlveda has participated in two rounds of consultations (13 and 20 May), organized by the civil society Initiative for Human Rights in Fiscal Policy in Latin America. The Initiative seeks to develop and promote a compendium of principles and guidelines that summarize the human rights standards applicable to fiscal policy.

In her interventions Magdalena discussed the disproportionate impact on women of Covid-19. She stressed the importance of ensuring gender equality in all taxation policies and provided concrete proposals on how to mainstream gender considerations in tax policy.

Magdalena is one of the members of the Committee of Experts which is responsible for the drafting of the Principles and Guidelines of Human Rights in Fiscal Policies.
