A new fiscal pact from Latin America for a green and just transition

 

In the context of the IX edition of the Summit of the Americas that is taking place this week in the United States, there is an opportunity for different Latin American countries to build a coordinated position regarding international taxation rules. This is a first milestone where various States in the region could articulate a common position to move towards an economy based on human rights, environmental sustainability and fiscal justice to reduce poverty and inequalities.

The Global Initiative for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (GI-ESCR), in conjunction with Public Services International (PSI), the Center for Analysis and Research (Fundar), the Center for Law, Justice and Society Studies ( DeJusticia), the Center for Legal and Social Studies (CELS), the Center for Economic and Social Rights (CESR), the Institute for Socioeconomic Studies (INESC) and the Civil Association for Equality and Justice (ACIJ) decided to hold a joint statement in pursuit of strengthening the regional position, around a series of measures.
