Arts Festival at Antonio García School, in Bogotá, Colombia
Between August and September 2024, with Antonio García School in Bogotá, Colombia, we raised a milestone in education on human rights and public services: an Arts Festival. This event brought together 49 students aged 9 to 13, who eagerly and curiously participated in days filled with learning and creativity.
The festival aimed to educate students on human rights and the importance of public services while inviting them to express their understanding and perceptions through artistic expression.
During the art and rights workshops, the students were introduced to the basic concepts of human rights and their relationship with public services, using the school as a living example of these rights. The children explored how art can be a powerful tool for communicating their ideas and feelings about highly relevant topics.
Our Programme Officer on Education, Juana Barragán, said that the "festival is not just an event; it's a unique opportunity for each of the children to discover their voice and the importance of rights."
The atmosphere during the sessions was filled with positive energy, as the students actively participated in all activities and showed great interest in the topics presented.
The Art Festival at Antonio García School provided a space where education, creativity, and participation intertwine to empower future citizens, equipping them with the tools to advocate for public services and become agents of change in their community.
