Building the momentum towards the Latin American Tax Summit
GI-ESCR and regional and global alliances participated in a week of events on tax cooperation in Latin America, from 2 to 5 of May in Bogota, Colombia. GI-ESCR and partners have been working closely with governments and key regional stakeholders, facilitating the efforts towards a Latin American tax bloc and a more sustainable, democratic and inclusive global taxation.
These meetings aimed to discuss substantive proposals and advocacy strategies to build regional agreements that will be needed to combat tax havens, limit tax competition between countries and negotiate as a bloc an agenda that represents the region's interest in international fora. This agenda will be key to financing public service and ensuring a just transition to a sustainable economy in the world's most unequal region.
